Workshop Manager
Negotiable basic with £50,000 OTE (up to £60,000 achievable)
Monday–Friday | 8:00am–6:00pm | 45 hours per week
No Weekend Working
Our client is looking for an experienced Workshop Manager / Workshop Controller to take responsibility for the day-to-day running and performance of a busy automotive workshop.
The role has become available as the business now requires a dedicated manager/controller who can take ownership of workshop performance, productivity and maximising hours through the workshop.
The Role
As Workshop Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Managing a busy workshop of approximately 20 Technicians and 5 Apprentices
- Driving workshop productivity and maximising hours sold through the workshop
- Monitoring technician performance, efficiency and utilisation
- Planning and controlling the daily workflow
- Ensuring jobs are allocated effectively and completed within agreed timescales
- Supporting technicians and apprentices to maintain high standards
- Working closely with the wider aftersales team to ensure smooth workshop operations
- Monitoring outstanding work and ensuring vehicles move efficiently through the workshop
- Setting the workshop up for success across the full operating week, including ensuring effective planning for weekend operations
- Maintaining high standards of quality, safety and customer service
- Coaching and developing the workshop team
- Working alongside an existing Assistant Workshop Manager/Controller
About You
We are looking for an experienced Workshop Manager, Workshop Controller or similar automotive professional who has a proven track record of managing a busy workshop.
You will need:
- Previous experience in a workshop management/controller position
- Strong understanding of workshop processes and technician productivity
- Experience managing a sizeable workshop team
- A commercial mindset with a focus on hours, efficiency and performance
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- The confidence to manage, motivate and hold technicians accountable
- A proactive approach to workshop planning and problem solving
What's on Offer?
- £35,000 basic salary, with more available for the right candidate
- £50,000 OTE
- Earnings of up to £60,000 available
- Monday–Friday, 8:00am–6:00pm
