Plant Technician - Kent

Our client, a Plant & Vehicle Maintenance Service company has an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced Plant Fitter/HGV Technician/PSV Technician to join them on a mobile basis covering the Kent and Surrey area and another in the Oxford area.

As an experienced individual, you will be skilled in all aspects of plant & machinery repairs and servicing. Duties involve carrying out inspections, maintenance and repair work.

Duties to include:

• Routine service & maintenance to all types of plant equipment. We currently maintain a large fleet of Thwaite’s Dump Trucks, Mini to Midi excavators, tractors, fresh & waste water pumps, various trailer based equipment such as generators, compressors etc. to name a few.
• Preventative Maintenance works to avoid potential avoidable breakdowns.
• Fault Diagnostics to diesel engine & hydraulic systems. Electrical based system diagnosis would also be a good asset for this role.
• Annual statutory testing such as LOLER. Not essential as training can be offered.
• Working on customer sites & depots.
• Mobile site based work with which a company vehicle is supplied.

Essential Skills & Requirements:

• Good healthy experience with various types of plant machinery.
• Ability to work on your own initiative.
• To be confident with the quality of your work.
• Welding & general hot works experience would be beneficial.
• Willing to be part of a growing team in a rewarding environment
• Good communication & basic IT skills are required for our mobile roles.
   
• Working hours: Monday to Friday 8am to 5.30pm but due to the types of clients you will be working with, you will normally start earlier and finish earlier. You will be paid from the minute you leave home to the minute you return home. It is a 47.5 hour week and as long as those hours are covered throughout the week you can start and finish as needed.
• There will be a rota’d call out paid at £100 for being on call and then a premium hourly rate for the time you are working.

Our client offers an extensive training programme which every member of staff is on, and this is continually monitored and assessed to ensure everyone is where they should be. As training progresses there is the opportunity to people can move and progress within the company.

As well as trained Plant Technician's, our client finds that those who come from an HGV, PCV or Car Technician background have been very successful in this role.
